Creative Tuesday #1

My friend, Adam, told me that the best way to fulfill a dream is to keep trying.  And in order to keep trying, I need to keep writing.  So, I have decided that each week on Tuesday, I will post a writing prompt and I will post my response to it. It gives me a chance to write a little flash fiction and spend some time writing outside of my WIP. :) It sounds like fun!

Also, my blogger friend Krista does the same thing and I always enjoy what she writes. :)

Creative prompt #211

Write from the point of view of a clean sock that was mistakenly placed in the hamper.

Oh, it's just her again, rummaging through the room and picking up all of that stinky mess.  I'm glad that she finally came.  It's been days.  I don't think I could stand the smell any longer.  He never really takes care of us, which is typical of men.  Clothing always ends up strewn about the room, whether clean or dirty.  Yuk.  Myself, I've been laying on this spot on the desk since the last time that she washed white laundry, two weeks ago.  Not very much fun.  At least the rest of the day will be more bearable since she is picking up.  I can relax a little before he returns.  Wait... No!  Don't pick me up!  I am NOT dirty!  I swear to you that I am normally stained from the adventures to the mailbox without shoes, the locker room at school, and whatever coats the basement floor at Aunt Tessie's house.  I am clean!  The ominous smell of sweat and rotten food looms nearer as she lingers over the laundry hamper.  Please don't do it!  There's a quick breeze as she drops me into the top of the hamper.  I protest, but it does no good.

I won't forget this, I think to myself.  Putting a clean sock in with the dirty ones is such a terrible sin.  She better stay on her guard.  The next time that I find myself in the washing machine, covered in bubbly soap and wrapped in a pair of her husband's tighty whites, I might just find a way to sneak one of my owner's bright red soccer socks into the wash with me.  No one likes pink socks.  Especially if they are wrapped in your former white underwear.  Yep, that will show her.  I was clean and she tossed me out.  How rude.

Hope you are having a lovely day!

  3. That's a great prompt! I agree with the dream thing. This editor I got to chat with a few times said that most people just give up too soon. But he said if you keep writing, you will get published. That's good news if I've ever heard any!
