March Goals

It's time for an update in goals!!  Here are my goals from February:

* Write to 10,000 words on my WIP - "Nameless"
Didn’t quite get to 10,000 words yet, but my word count is now 8,337 – so I have +1,322 words than I did last month and that’s the most that has been written on my WIP in three months.

* Find a job!
Done – I have a job at Starbucks and I love it!  My co-workers are a lot of fun and I like going to work! :)

* Read "Open Minds" by Susan Kaye Quinn

* Hear back about "To Love Without Hope" pitch in ABNA (February 23, 2012)

Goals for March:

* Write to 12,000 words on my WIP – “Nameless”

* Do a dry read of “The Secret” and make a list of scenes that need to be cut, scenes that need to be added or edited

* See “The Hunger Games” in theaters! (Very, very, very excited for this movie!  I loved the book series!)

* Read “The Lucky One” by Nicholas Sparks

A little more about my new job!  I did my first day on Tuesday – 8 hours of cashier training, which I admit that I was very nervous about, but I got the hang of it.  Yesterday, I did 7 hours of barista training and learned to make several of the hot drinks that they serve!  Steaming milk scared me at first, but I really enjoyed it once I got over my fear of it.  I work again tomorrow and I get to learn more drinks.  My boss is very funny and personable.  I spent the whole day with him yesterday and he was very patient and kind.  Yay!  I haven’t met anyone that might become a character in one of my books yet, but I’m sure that I will someday. :)  It’s a great opportunity to observe people!

Have a great Friday!

How are your goals going?

  1. Happy to hear your new job is off to a good start!

    Good luck on those goals!

  2. Sounds like you are doing quite well. Two of my sisters-in-law worked at Starbucks and it treated them both very well. And I can't for Hunger Games!

  3. You did pretty good with your Feb goals and it looks like you've got some realistic goals set for March.

I'm excited to catch The Hunger Games in the theaters as well. Should be great.

Congrats on the new job. I hope you continue to enjoy it and have a blast.

  4. Great goals. This makes me want to publish goals on my blog. Open my desires to the world. You guys can kick me in the butt to do them!

Good luck with your goals. I will join you in the seeing The Hunger Games. I can't wait!

  5. Love your goals! And I'm so jealous you get to work at Starbucks. I love that place! What a fun job.

Good job with your Feb goals and good luck this month! I can't wait for the Hunger Games either! I've got my tickets - just waiting for the date to arrive!

  6. Sounds like your new job is working out really well. :)

Good luck with your March goals!

  7. Your goals are attainable. I love it! I'm always afraid to see the movie of a book b/c it will likely change the picture in my mind. But I so loved the HG trilogy.

  8. I'm so glad the new job is working out!

Good luck with your next month's worth of goals!

  9. Yeah for a job that allows you to people watch and build characters. ;-)

Awesome progress and great March goals.

    Best of luck!

  10. Yea for Nameless - I am totally excited about your WIP! Mostly because the little taste of it I got left me wanting more!!

My goals are not going well. But I am rededicating myself to be better at reaching them :)

  11. Stopping by from the A-Z Challenge. Looking forward to your musings in April.

  12. I love that you have such specific goals, and are so accountable for them! You're fabulous!

And congrats on getting a job that you love, and with people who you enjoy working with. That can make all the difference in the world!

  13. I'm glad you've done so well on your goals this month, and huge congratulations on your new job. Here's to March being just as good :-)

  14. I think I have finally accepted that I am more productive when I don't have a stringent list of goals. I just cannot seem to stay on track. I suppose I should try again as it adds discipline and structure to my life. Congratulations on your fun new job and for doing so well on you February goals. I am a new follower. Hope Roberson sent me.

  15. Congratulations on the job! That is the perfect job for a writer, a combination of caffeine and people watching.

Best of luck with your February goals.

  16. Hooray for you getting a new job and writing 8K+ words in a month!

And, yeah, I'm with you: CAN'T WAIT for the Hunger Games movie to come out! Squeeee!

Goodluck with your next set of goals! ;)

  17. Great job on getting your WIP done. It's so hard to find time to write and work, huh?

I'm anxious for the Hunger Games, too. My husband really wants to see it (he didn't read the book). Don't everyone get mad at me...but I'm worried it'll be disappointing for those who enjoyed the book. I'm not sure that it can deliver the punch the book could...we won't get to "hear" what Katniss is going through like we did in the first person POV the author used - if that makes sense.

I'm glad that Starbucks is working out. Keep a notebook handy to jot down things you hear from customers...I'm sure you'll get some great ideas. People watching/listening can be so fun! :)
