A is for April Goals

Welcome to the Blogging A-Z April 2012 Challenge on my blog!  I am nervous, but I am going to try to find something to blog about for every letter of the alphabet.  Today is the very first day!  So... April Goals, it is.

Here's what my March goals were:

* Write to 12,000 words on my WIP – “Nameless”
My goal was to write from 8,337 to 12,000 words.  My current word count is... 23,137 - that's 14,800 words for March!!  Much higher than my goal. :)
* Do a dry read of “The Secret” and make a list of scenes that need to be cut, scenes that need to be added or edited
Done!  I saw a lot of plot holes, but I think I can fix them when I'm ready to edit. :)
* See “The Hunger Games” in theaters!
Not yet, but I am going this Friday!!  Very, very excited!!
* Read “The Lucky One” by Nicholas Sparks
Nope, didn't quite finish it yet.

Goals for April:
* Write to 30,000 words on my WIP "Nameless"
Very attainable goal for me, now that I've discovered the key to getting some writing done - so, I only need to write 6,863 words this month! :)

* Finish reading "The Lucky One" by Nicholas Sparks

* Complete all 26 letters of the A-Z Challenge

I hope that you all have a fun month!  These posts should be entertaining about me and a few random more serious ones.  There's also a few teasers from each of the books I've written! :)  Enjoy!  And good luck to everyone!

  1. I like the idea of listing specific goals for the month. Do you normally post them for the world to see? Doing that would likely help me to make sure I got stuff done!

    1. I actually do normally post them for everyone to see. I feel like it keeps me accountable. I do one at the beginning of each month, starting this year. :) It really does help!

  6. Those are some ambitious goals, Krista. Best of luck to you with them :)

I've still not seen (or read) the Hunger Games, but I hear many awesome things about it.

You really should - I really enjoyed the books and I hope the movie compares well.

  8. Hi, Krista,

Good for you for writing down your goals every month. That's half the battle right there - just KNOWING what you want to accomplish.

Good luck! I hope you write like the wind in April!

    1. That really can be half the battle! I thought of adding more, but I think that 3 or 4 goals should be attainable every month for me. :) Thanks!

  10. Congrats on such a fantastic word count for March!

...now that I've discovered the key to getting some writing done...
Uh, care to share that key?! I could use some help right now!

    1. I don't know if it is a universal "key to getting writing done" but I've found that I have to leave my apartment and the distractions behind, sit down in the coffee shop with either an iced vanilla latte or strawberry smoothie and write. No internet. :)

  12. I saw the Hunger Games. They skimped on world-building, and it felt like I was watching a book rather than a movie, but overall it was pretty good.

    Happy A-Z!

    1. Thanks Sarah! What I didn't say was that I actually wrote those 14,000 words in the last week and a half of the month. My special writing place really helps. :)

  18. I love reading about other people's goals, whether writerly or other. :) And last year I made up my A-Z on the spot too, but this year I had no choice but to plan ahead due to travelling for half of April!
