Merry Tolkien Week!

In honor of the 75th anniversary of the publication of "The Hobbit", this week is known as Tolkien Week!  It celebrates the author, J.R.R. Tolkien and his wonderful literary compositions dealing with Middle Earth; The Silmarillion, The Hobbit, The Lord the Rings (Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, The Return of the King), Unfinished Tales, and The History of Middle Earth

The actual publication date of The Hobbit is September 21, 1937. I read it out loud to my brother when I was twelve years old.  He actually listened to the entire story and my brother doesn't care for books.  It was a great experience.  It was a nice brother/sister moment too. :)

Pic from a few years ago, I am 4 years older than him
I have loved Tolkien's works since I was a child and he is one of the authors who inspired me to write.  I write fantasy because of J.R.R. Tolkien.  I know I can never create a world with such beautiful creatures, rich characters, and a world beyond my imagination, but Tolkien did it.  I can only aspire to be 1/3 as good as him and that will be more than enough. He's my favorite author. (If you've followed my blog for any period of time, you've probably discovered that.) :D

So, in honor of such a fantastic author, I am dedicating my week of blogging to him and I'll be celebrating Tolkien week with people around the world!  I'll be sharing some of my favorite book passages from The Lord of the Rings, quotes from J.R.R. Tolkien, favorite clips from the movies, and other little interesting facts!  It's gonna be fun!

AND - on Saturday, September 22, which is Hobbit Day, celebrating Frodo and Bilbo's birthdays, I will be honoring that day!  I might even show you a picture of my hobbit feet.  Seriously, I have small hairy hobbit feet.  My brother tells me I have hobbit feet all the time.

Today, I will be sharing my favorite Tolkien quote:

"A single dream is more powerful than a thousand realities."

Beautiful words. :)

You are more than welcome to join me or to just enjoy this week of celebrations and cool stuff!  There might even be a giveaway...

MERRY TOLKIEN WEEK! :)
