New Hobbit Trailer!

In honor of the 75th anniversary of the publication of "The Hobbit", this week is known as Tolkien Week!  It celebrates the author, J.R.R. Tolkien and his wonderful literary compositions dealing with Middle Earth; The Silmarillion, The Hobbit, The Lord the Rings (Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, The Return of the King), Unfinished Tales, and The History of Middle Earth.

Today is the release of the new trailer for "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" coming out on December 14th, 2012!!  I am super excited.

I am incredibly excited!! :)  Also, I love New Zealand and I hope to visit someday.  Seriously, watch the video again and tell me it isn't a beautiful land.  You can't do it!  I better pick out a costume to wear to the midnight release. :)

I have decided I will definitely need to reread "The Hobbit" before December.  It has been almost ten years since I read it!

What did you think of the new trailer?  Are you a fan of the book being split into three movies?

Come back tomorrow to find out about my special Tolkien week giveaway and about my favorite audio version of "The Lord of the Rings!!

  1. I have to say I might love this trailer more than the first. (My favorite parts might be the trolls or the stone giants...) Have you checked out the clips on the website? Several of them are different than what's in the trailer.

I'm slowly getting used to the idea of three movies, though I think I still have the preference for just two. With what this trailer hinted at with Gandalf and Radagast and Galadriel, I think I might be surprised (in a good way) about the material from the appendices making it into the films. I think it's still a wait-and-see thing for me though.

  2. I think I'll join you on rereading the book. It's been an eternity! I'm not thrilled about the three movie thing. I hate watching single books in several movies - it's like being put on hold three times :(

  3. I'm so excited for this movie, I can't stand it. I love all of Tolkien's work, but being able to go back and re-read his stories with my kids, has been amazing! Great to share the love of a book with your children.
