October Goals

It is definitely and officially fall.  Literally, the leaves fall from the trees in a constant stream of orange, yellow, and red leaves.  It's beautiful.  Also, it is officially October and now appropriate for me to watch "Hocus Pocus" every night before bed.  It's my favorite Halloween movie. :)

I had a lovely September - things with work are a little stressful at times, but there are twelve babies.  They all want love and attention at the same time.  It's a balancing act, but I really do love it.  Time for an update on my goals!

Here's my goals from September:
* Write to 30,000 words on "Unless"
My current word count is 31,665 words.  I wrote 10,564 words this month. :) I am officially half-way done with the first draft of "Unless".  There's so much more to write!

* Finish reading "Insurgent" by Veronica Roth
FAIL.  I will finish, but I'm pretty busy with edits and writing "Unless".  Maybe on my vacation in November I will finish and review the book.

* Read "Not Your Average Fairytale" by Chantele Sedgwick
A wonderful, amazing book!  I really enjoyed it!  You can find my review here.

*  Buy "The Avengers" on DVD on September 25th
Love, love, love them.  Also, I really loved the deleted scenes with Captain America!  And I heard more deleted scenes with Steve will end up in Captain America 2.  Yay!

Hunter as a monkey (Halloween 2009)
Goals for October:

* Write to 45,000 words on "Unless"
My current word count is 31,665.  I'll need to write 13,335 words for October.  I hope it's doable.

* Finish first round revisions of "Nameless" with my critique partner
We have only seven more chapters for her to review!  I'm hoping to get through them and decide what the next step needs to be.

* Participate in IWSG (Insecure Writer's Support Group) on the first Wednesday of October
I completely forgot last month and I don't wanna forget again!

* Decide if I want to participate in NaNoWriMo in November
I've done it in years past, but I'm going to be working hard on finishing "Unless" next month.  I have to decide if I want to take a month off to write a new novel or finish the one I've got. :)

How did your goals for September go?  What are your goals for October?

  3. I like that you're updating/setting monthly goals. I've been doing it weekly, on Mondays, on my blog. It feels a little too revealing, but someone from my critique group urged me to keep doing it. It helps to motivate her, and so I guess I'll keep on keeping on. I liked reading about your goals and achievements.

  4. I love how you have your goals written down and review them at the end of the month. It has inspired me to do the same. Also, the monkey costume is adorable!!

  6. Good job on your word count! I finished reading Insurgent a few weeks ago and enjoyed it. Still trying to decide if I want to participate in NaNoWriMo next month. Good luck with reaching your October goals :)

  8. Wow! Great job on your writing! Sounds like your draft is moving right along. Good luck with it.

And I admit, I'm curious about your review for Insurgent. It's never a good sign when it takes someone several months to read a book. I read Divergent, but I haven't read the sequel yet because, like you, time is an issue.

    Happy writing!
