B is for Borg, Resistance is Futile

Day two, whew.... we can do this.  Anyway!!

The Borg want to assimilate everything.  They are obsessed with finding "perfection" by forcibly assimilating different species, taking their biological uniqueness, knowledge and technology.  Not very nice cyborgs.  Their minds are all connected to the "hive mind" and have no names other than numbers.

Resistance is futile.  (Yeah... not the motto which will make friends.)

Creepy guys and hard to stop.  Not ironically, the Star Trek franchise uses them a lot!

Star Trek: Enterprise

Star Trek: Voyager
Star Trek: Next Generation

Also, the Borg have a Queen.  It's a matriarch society.  Hmmm...

The Borg Queen - seriously not attractive, creepy
It makes me think of what I'd assimilate if I had the ability to assimilate things.  Slightly confusing sentence, but I'd assimilate the ability to revise well.  I'm not very good at revising a novel, probably because I'm too close, but I'd love to take the talent (borrow it) from someone else. :)

I'd never wanna be assimilated - how about you?  If you could assimilate a talent, what would it be?  Anyone else know if I missed any series the Borg appear in?

Whew, I'm off to a good start so far!  Though, I only wrote 1,678 words yesterday.  I am finishing a novella I've been tossing around for a few months.  I can do this!!

  1. If you're doing A to Z -and- Camp Nano, you must already be part machine!

    Best of luck :)

  2. Wow. I agree w/ Mark. If you're doing both, you already are part Borg. I find them so creepy!

  6. Ooh what talent would I assimilate? Maybe drawing - all I can do is really bad stick figures. I'd love to be a little more artistic :)

  10. Ah, Jean-Luc - you give seriously good voice!

I'd assimilate a bit of organization, for I am sorely in need.

  11. If I might add something to your question: not only what would you assimilate, but FROM WHOM would you assimilate it?

My answer probably changes given the mood I'm in. Right now, I think I would assimilate jazz pianist Keith Jarrett's piano skills. I'm not bad, but he's infinitely better. :)

So, Krista--from whom would you assimilate the ability to revise well?

    1. Ooo - good question Colin! I don't know who I'd assimilate the ability to revise well from. I'll have to think about that one!

  12. It makes me tired just to read about doing the Nano and A-Z at the same time! Good luck with both!

And I love the Borgs LOL.

  17. Yay, another person doing both A to Z and Camp NaNo! *fistbump*

I think the "Best of Both Worlds" episodes from TNG are two of the best in Star Trek history. And the cliffhanger at the end of Part One? OH MY GOD.

Good luck on both of your April challenges! (And really, you're kicking butt on Camp NaNo already. Way to go!)

I've not see it, sadly! I'll have to remedy that soon since it is on Netflix. ;)

Good luck to you too! :)

  18. Being assimilated Would. Not. Be. Fun. But if I could have Patrick Stewart by my side, I might just try for it. haha

    1. I have to agree - the process of being assimilated sounds quite painful. But with Picard, I might consider it. :)

  19. You can do this! Keep up the good work!

The idea of the hive-mind, have you heard of Arclight? I think you might be interested in that...it talks about the same sort of deal, but kind of shows how the hive can be a positive thing...
