V is for Viggo Mortensen

Viggo Mortensen is one of my favorite actors, specifically because of his work as Aragorn in "The Lord of the Rings" triology.  Though I also enjoyed him in "Hidalgo".  He is very attractive and in both movie, he sings.  Very nice. :)

(I know I've shared this before, but it is so awesome you have to watch it again.  And again.)

And this:

He's just that awesome.  Definitely a dedicated actor.

Who is your favorite actor?

  1. O_O I don't know if I'd be able to do that. I'd just cry like a girl if I broke my toes.

  2. Wow, never knew that about the broken toes. That's the sign of a great actor, to keep going...regardless.

I remember seeing him in an old "B" movie with Christopher Walken called "The Prophecy", where he played Satan. He did a great job there, too.

  3. This is actually amazing that he could still be able to act after breaking his toes.

  4. Ahh I've heard this before (I've seen all the dvd extras, because I really can't get enough of lord of the rings) and I think it's just amazing. It made a great scene! I love him as Aragorn :)

  5. I absolutely adored him as Aragorn. Such a phenomenal actor.

Another fun fact: he was actually not the person originally cast as Aragorn. However, after about a week of shooting, they realized they'd cast the part too young. So Viggo was a last-minute switch! (And a good one, IMO.)

(Seriously, the LOTR EE DVDs are chock-full of fantastic behind-the-scenes information. I had almost as much fun watching those documentaries as I had watching the movies.)

  6. This is very old news, but still testament to the amazing Viggo. A film that he did in the early 90's, The Indian Runner, which was Sean Penn's directorial debut, really showed his early acting chops in a role that was a very unlikeable character. He is an incredible actor. He could be raking in all kinds of cash, but takes on obscure and independent films only because he likes the stories that they tell. He has incredible work ethic. Other actors/crew love him. He's eloquent, intellectually enchanting, a Renaissance man, and wonderfully bohemian. Not to mention, a beautiful sight to behold.
