I will be sharing a kiss from my WIP - "The Damned" (Book Two), YA Urban Fantasy. Persephone (Effie) is a siren and being held captive at a scientific research facility called the Center. At this point, Effie has just found out the little girl she made friends with is to be terminated and she's arguing with her Tender (basically a male nurse), Ian.

-------

"Effie..." His hands reached out to touch me, but I recoiled.

"Don't!" No amount of begging was going to save Lana and every part of me ached to stop this.

I did the only thing I could. Wrapping my arms around Ian's neck, I stopped his movements as I gently blew into his open mouth before kissing him softly. Ian's body responded with urgency, fiercely warm where his body touched mine. He ran his hands down my back as my legs went around his waist. The kiss lasted less than a minute, but it was done. My feet dropped to the carpet as our lips parted. Ian's eyes had a far-off gaze.

I blinked at the tears in my eyes. "Go, take your daughter and never return. Find a safe place for her and keep running until they forget about you. And they will forget. Save yourself, Ian. Save your child."

My will was twisted with his and Ian had to obey. It was cruel to take his decisions, but I was playing the last of my cards. The Center didn’t know about this little trick. Too late now. Ian would be free from my spell within a day, but it was strong. He took a step back and moved towards the door. My enchantment left him free to make some choices and act normal, but he had to obey. I could at least save him and his daughter. I couldn’t save Lana, but I’d try.

"Good-bye Ian."

--------

It's one of my favorite scenes so far! Not a kiss of romance, but of deceit and control.

Be sure to visit the other participants - I'm off to read more kissing scenes!
