Double Cover Reveal for Cassie Mae!

Today, I am very excited to be sharing the covers for one of my favorite authors, Cassie Mae! I absolutely loved her book, HOW TO DATE A NERD. It's my favorite of her books, so I'm very excited to read the next two in the series!

How to Seduce a Band Geek (How To #2)
Release Date: 05/06/14
Swoon Romance

Summary from Goodreads:

Sierra Livingston’s got it bad for her sister’s best friend, Levi Mason—the boy who carries his drumsticks in his pocket, marches with the school’s band, and taps his feet to whatever beat runs through his head. Sierra racks her brain for ways to impress the sexy drummer, but the short skirts and bursting cleavage don’t seem to cut it.

When Sierra gets paired with Levi’s sister, Brea, for a mentorship program, they strike a deal. In exchange for Sierra keeping her mouth shut about Brea ditching the program, Brea lets Sierra dig for more info on Levi to help get the guy of her dreams.

But when Sierra discovers Levi no longer plays the drums, his family has moved into a trailer, and he’s traded in his Range Rover for a baby blue moped, Sierra’s not sure if she can go through with violating his privacy. She’ll have to find the courage to ask him straight out—if he’s willing to let her in—and explore other ways to seduce the school’s band geek.

How to Hook a Bookworm (How To #3)
Release Date: TBD

Swoon Romance

Summary from Goodreads:

It’s Brea Mason’s sixteenth birthday, and she has three wishes. 1. Be magically eighteen like the rest of her friends. 2. Grow a money tree for her family whose financial problems are well known about town.  3. Overcome her test anxiety before she flunks out of every class.

But one day later, she's still sixteen, her family's money worries abound, and she's no closer to passing than she was the day before!

Then a very sexy transfer student—with gobs of cash—shows up. Brea figures she has a better chance of burping up glitter than attracting the new guy, but he seems extremely interested in her.

Just when Brea thinks things are looking up, her report card arrives marked with four giant F’s. Enter resident bookworm and Brea's loyal friend, Adam Silver. If he can't help Brea pass, no one can.

Even with Adam's help, Brea can't handle the mounting pressure, and finds an escape with the new student who knows little about her problems.

But spending oodles of time with her boyfriend strains the friendship with Adam she relies so heavily on. Faced with losing the only real comfort and support she has ever had, Brea starts to wonder if she can hook a bookworm before it's too late.

WIP - The Movie Bloghop

Today is Kyra and Rachel's "WIP - The Movie Bloghop"!

The Rules
Almost all of us have imagined who would play the characters in our WIP if they were ever made into a movie. On February 28th, we want you to "cast" your WIP, and post photos of the actors/actresses you would choose to play the characters in your latest manuscript.

Also, we'd like you to share which songs you'd have in your WIP Movie soundtrack! Share several songs or one song that fits the theme of your story!

I've decided to share my dream cast for my novella, BREATHLESS, which is a YA Contemporary Romance. It's a twist on The Little Mermaid. "Breathless" will be published on April 1, 2014 and tomorrow I will be revealing the beautiful cover! You get a little sneak-peak with this bloghop. :) Be sure to stop back tomorrow to see my cover!

Lainey is main character in my novel and she would be played by Emma Watson. Lainey is struggling with guilt and pain after the death of her best friend. She's bitter and unhappy. On her eighteenth birthday, Lainey almost drowns, but is rescued by a mysterious young man. She becomes obsessed with finding him and in a turn of events, she rescues him.

Jon is the love interest in my story and he would be played by Ben Barnes (Prince Caspian). Jon doesn't know what pancakes taste like, how microwave popcorn cooks, or own shoes, and he’s just what Lainey needs. As the anniversary of her friend’s death looms, Jon convinces Lainey to open up and share her guilt. It doesn’t take long to fall for him.

Peter is Lainey's step-dad and would be played by Greg Kinnear (Baby Mama, The Last Song). Even though she doesn't get along with him, he's actually a pretty cool dad. Also, I really wanted to share who I would have "cast" as Peter. :)

The song from the soundtrack I'd like to share is the one which sums up part of their love story!

"So Close" - Jon McLaughlin

Cover Reveal Sign-up

I've been pretty quiet on my blog lately, but I'm working hard on the final touches of my edits. And working two jobs seriously takes it out of me and I fall into bed when I get home... exhausting, but I am finding joy in both jobs. Anyway --

I'm happy to announce that I will be publishing "Breathless" on April 1st, 2014!!

Wait, didn't you say this before?

Yes, I did. And I failed. There was a severe lack of planning and timing on my part, so "Breathless" was not ready by Dec. 31st, my original publishing date. It was me, nothing else.

BUT --

I am waiting for finishing editing touches and I've seen the cover, which is BEAUTIFUL and I'm very excited about the whole thing! I'm planning on sharing the cover on March 1st. I'm looking for anyone who would like to help share my cover. You can share it on your blog or on Facebook!

Please sign up below! I will be sending an email with the blurb and other publishing info!

YA Contemporary Romance
By Krista McLaughlin

Eighteen-year-old Lainey is the only witness to her best friend losing her life to the depths of the ocean. She stays close to the water, a small part of her hoping to surrender to the same fate. On her birthday the waters almost overtake her, but a mysterious young man rescues her and disappears.

Lainey can't stop thinking about the stranger from the beach, and one night she finds her rescuer naked and bleeding on the shore. Jon doesn’t know what pancakes taste like, how microwave popcorn cooks, or own shoes, but he seems to be just what Lainey needs. As the anniversary of her friend’s death looms, Lainey opens herself in ways she never thought possible. But when Jon’s identity comes to light, Lainey has to save him before she loses another love to the sea.

Thanks and stay tuned for more details!! :)

IWSG - Will it ever be "done"?

I almost missed it, but it is still technically Wednesday in the central time zone for another two hours! Anyway, today is another installationment of The Insecure Writer's Support Group, which posts on the first Wednesday of every month and is run by our Ninja Captain Alex Cavanaugh. This is a place where writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds.

I'm struggling with knowing when a novel is done. I mean, when it is done being revised and editing, torn apart, revised and edited again?

I've been working on "Breathless" for almost a year and it has been written, edited, revised, and rewritten in sections. I've added scenes, killed scenes, and almost killed a character. I'm comfortable with how it is right now and I still love the story. I love the characters and I love their love story. I've decided I would really like to self-publish this novella, but I'm struggling with being done.

Most days... I think it's done.

But other days... it needs something more.

How do you find the balance and decide that your book is how you want it to be? I'm right on the edge of deciding as I'm looking to hire a freelance editor. But I want to make sure the book is ready! Will it ever be ready?

February Goals

We survived the first month of 2014! I went 22 days without a day off and it was all kinds of awful. Between my two jobs, I keep really busy, though next week I work almost 60 hours. Not fun, nope. But it's time for an update on my goals!

Here are my goals from January:
* Revise "Breathless"

* Finish writing "Little Mishaps"

I actually managed to finish both goals before the 9th of January, which I'm very excited about! So, I decided to do some serious reading. I finally finished rereading "The Lord of the Rings" and started The Moral Instruments series. Some reading helped me come up with a new novel idea!

Goals for February
* Participate in the "WIP - The Movie" Bloghop

* Read "Switched" by Cassie Mae

* Write to 10,000 words on "Cursed"

* Hire an editor and cover designer for "Breathless"

I'm very excited about all of those goals, but especially the last one. After this last round of revisions, I added a new scene which really strengthened the book, along with tightening things up. I'm really excited where it is going! I'd really like to push to self-publish. I know I said I planning on publishing it in December, but life got in the way, taking with it a huge helping of doubt. But I'm really exciting about moving forward with it!

How did your goals for January go? Good luck with February!
