Camp NaNoWriMo Winner!

I barely made it in time, but yesterday I finished writing my Camp NaNoWriMo novel, tentatively called "Cursed", though I'm thinking of renaming it to "Beauty and the Geek". I know the name has been used, but it really really really... really really fits for this novel. I will think about it. Anyway, 30,159 words! My goal was to make it to 30k on this novella.

Yay! I made it.

I also realized that this is my TENTH novel I've written! I'm incredibly excited about this! I have high dreams for this one. It's retelling of "Beauty and the Beast", with a deaf girl and a geek. I love Jared, he's so sweet and romantic! In his own Trekkie way... but he's pretty wonderful. :)

Here's a little teaser of Alanna interacting with Jared:

Staring at the numbers and letters was giving me a headache. But I had to figure it out. I’d only scored 54 out of 100 on the exam Friday. I rested my chin on my hands.

“You need to move the first digit to the second column to be able to find the answer for X.”

I glanced up at Jared. His smile reached his eyes. “And then if I just fold on the middle line, I’ll be able to make an origami swan.”

“That takes quite a few more folds.” Jared picked up the tub and carried it into the washroom.

“Okay. If I did that, how would I finish the problem?”

Jared’s head popped around the corner and his blue eyes caught the light. I quickly looked away. He came to stand next to me, grabbing the glasses hanging from the front his apron. I hadn’t even noticed he wore glasses. Jared pushed the black frames up his nose and he leaned over, putting his elbows on the sticky surface.

“You move the X over, divide for Y and take it times the multiplier to get the answer.” Jared picked up the piece of notebook paper. “Or you could do this.”

A smile crossed my face as I watched him fold the paper until it slightly resembled a flying bird. He handed it to me and pulled off his glasses.

“See, it’s a swan.”

“It looks like a duck with beak issues.” I deadpanned.

“Okay, I guess I’m better at math than I am at making origami animals. My paper airplanes win awards, though.” Jared let his glasses slide to the end of his nose as he looked at me over the lenses.

How do your month of April go? If you did Camp NaNoWriMo, I hope you did some writing! And congrats to everyone who finished the A to Z Blogging Challenge! :)

Camp NaNoWiMo is going very well! I'm currently at 16,548 words. My goal is 30k for this novella, though I suspect it will be a little longer after revisions. I'm loving my main character, Alanna, who is deaf. Her love interest, Jared is the biggest Trekkie nerd and I have to admit... I want to date him. He's wonderful and sooo nerdy! I'm currently working on the upcoming prom scene, complete with yellow dress. It is a Beauty and the Beast retelling, so we have to have a dance. :)

How is Camp NaNo going for you? Have you gotten an mosquito bites yet? How's your Blogging A to Z challenge going? Today is the half-way point for both! Finish strong guys!

April Goals

First, I would like to thank everyone who helped by sharing about my book release and who participated in my Romantic Flop Blog Hop! If I haven't got to your entry yet, I will be doing that today! Also, BREATHLESS is on sale for 99 cents through Sunday as a gift to all of you! :)

I'm a little behind this month since I normally share my goals update on the 1st, but that was book release day. :) But I'm catching up!

Here are my goals from March:
* Share the details about my upcoming book release day celebration!

* Finish the final details before my book releases

* Write to 10,000 words on "Cursed"

Two out of three goals - not bad!! :) I do plan on doing the last one this month since last month was quite busy preparing for my book release. I did do a little writing, but not much.

Goals for April:
* Write to 30,000 words on "Cursed" for the April session of Camp NaNoWriMo
I'm very excited about this one! This is a Beauty and the Beast retelling with a deaf girl and a geek. Lots of fun to write!

* Read "Sidelined" by Kyra Lennon

Only two goals, but I would really like to focus on new novel I'm writing. I did find it a little funny when I realized the book I wrote for the April session of Camp NaNo last year is the one I just published, so April might be a really good writing month for me. :) If you are participating in Camp NaNo or the Blogging A-Z challenge, good luck and have fun!

My Book Birthday AND The Romantic Flop Blog Hop!

It's my book birthday!! BREATHLESS is live and for sale for only $1.99 so you should totally buy it and review it... because I love all of you. :)

So... give me a second...

AHH!

Pretending I can dance...

Okay, I think I'm calmed down a little bit. :)

*Sigh*

On to the important stuff! Today is the first day of "The Romantic Flop Blog Hop", which gives everyone a chance to share an awkward moment they’ve had with someone they had a crush on, whether you eventually married the person or never saw them again. In the beginning of BREATHLESS, Lainey has an awkward encounter with her love interest and it's hilarious!

I've decided to share about my romantic flops in the form of me being Taylor Swift. Ask my best friend. I am Taylor Swift. Let's see...

Taylor Swift dated a guy named Drew. Yep, I did too.
Taylor Swift liked a guy named Stephen (song: Hey Stephen). Yep, I did too. * I also might have anonymously sent him that song on a CD and nothing else. It's okay, he's married now and I apologized for my awkwardness.
Taylor Swift is never, ever getting back together with a guy (song: Never Ever Getting Back Together). Yep, I've dated the same guy twice in a 5 year period. Trust me, we are never ever ever ever ever ever getting back together this time.

See, I'm Taylor Swift. Kinda. Also once on a choir trip, I depantsed myself by stepping on my skirt after sitting on the bus floor. Luckily it was dark and no one saw my bright white slip beneath my black skirt. Oops!

I'd love to hear about your romantic flops, sign up below through April 3rd and visit everyone else!
