IWSG - Finding time...

Today is another meeting of The Insecure Writer's Support Group, which posts on the first Wednesday of every month and is run by our Ninja Captain Alex Cavanaugh. This is a place where writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds. The awesome co-hosts today are M. Pax, Tracy Jo, Patricia Lynne, Rachna Chhabria, Feather Stone, and Randi Lee!

I'm struggling to find time and motivation for writing lately. I did an entire rewrite in April, but the month of May.... I only wrote 1k. I work two jobs, but I only work one in the summer, which I'm hoping will help.

After spending days where I'd work ten hours between my two jobs or more, it was hard to find motivation to do anything other than get home and binge watch Netflix. (On the up side, I've watched all of M*A*S*H. Wonderful series!) I also want to find more time for blogging and reading blogs! I feel like I've kinda fallen off the blogosphere, but I want to be here. :)

I just need to make more time. Maybe I should get a Time-Turner... How do you balance life and writing time? :)

  1. Oh, that's a biggey issue for all of us, I suspect. Balancing act. I don't always physically sit down and work on my ms's edits. But I do think about scenes and my characters' issues every day. I think that even though it's just a mental exercise, I'm still holding the story close to my heart. Enjoy your life. If you're happy, you're on the right track. Blessings.

  2. Nothing wrong with binge-watching M*A*S*H!
You might just have to steal a little time here and there to write.

  3. I struggle with time juggling too! There always seems so much to be done. Hopefully over the summer you will have a little more time to enjoy your writing.

  4. Balance? I feel like giving up on that...and who knows, maybe that's exactly what I need to get it. There's always so much to get done, and writing seems to always get back seat. But then I remind myself that kids and life are really more important, and writing will fit in somehow. Always does. Good luck!

  5. Not too well, Krista! I've lived decades and am still struggling to find balance! Talk about where does the time go! I'm realizing more and more every day how important my hubby and my life are. You are working very hard, so be gentle with yourself for that!

  6. It is hard at times to find the motivation and the time to write! Sometimes those tv series can spark a little imagination for our writing:)

  7. You are not alone. While I am handling my freelance writing job from home despite some challenges my own writing and blogging have fallen through the cracks. Best of luck finding time and the motivation to write, Just pace yourself, burnout will not help.

  8. If you find anyone selling a Time-Turner, let me know where to find them! I haven't found the perfect balance yet. It's harder in the summer for me because my son isn't in school. I'm hoping once he starts kindergarten, I'll find that magical balance. *knocks on wood*

  9. That's the big question, for whatever reason finding enough time seems to have hit a lot of us lately. I don't know other than to carve out a little bit of time each day where you just write. Hopefully summer will be easier on you!

  10. I find time about the same way you do. Frustrating when you don't have enough. Fritter it away when I do. I keep telling myself to be disciplined. I'll let you know when that happens. :)
