July Goals and IWSG

Today is the first day of Camp NaNoWriMo July session! I did a rewrite of a novel during the April session and my goal for this session is to write a good chunk of the new novel I'm stuck on. Also, I renamed it from "Just About Average" to "Summer of Lies" - it fits Lexi's story much better!

Mock cover
Title: Summer of Lies
Genre/Category: YA Contemporary
Word Count: 25,000
Pitch: Lexi hasn't spoken to her best friend, Tristan, in six months. The day after he proclaimed his love to her, a rumor spread around school. Instead of listening to her, he believed the rumor and ended their friendship. Lexi is left with the shadow of the friend, who didn't help her through the hardest time in her life.

Since today is the Insecure Writer's Support Group (created by our Ninja Captain Alex Cavanaugh) meeting too, I will say that I'm insecure about my writing at all this month! Life has been very busy. I have one friend in critical condition in the Mayo Clinic and I'm struggling with finding something to do. Work has been stressful and I'm exhausted, but hopefully things will be on an up-swing soon!

Also, it's time for an update in my goals!

Here are my goals from June:
* Read "Fraction of Earth" by Kelley Lynn

* Write to 30,000 on "Just About Average"

* Go to my childhood friend's wedding :)

Well... I got one goal. That's okay. I tried. :)

I did get a ton of reading done last month and I'm very happy about that! Wow, that's a lot more books when I put them in a list like that! :)

A Change of Mind and Other Stores by Nick Wilford
Eat Play Lust by Tawna Fenske
Doing It for Love (All About Love #1) by Cassie Mae
Believing God by Beth Moore
Into a Million Pieces by Angela V. Cook
The Choice by Allison J. Kennedy
Bumped by Megan McCafferty

Goals for July:
* Write 25,000 words on "Summer of Lies"

* Read three books

Small goals for next month! Hopefully I will do better. How did your goals go last month? What are you feeling insecure about this month?

  1. You tried and you achieved, kudos. Difficult times and stress slow us down. I hope your friend's health improves soon. X

  3. I didn't know there were NaNoWriMo camps - I need to check it out.

Wow, that is a lot of books you've read! I was very bad in June and did not read anything! First time I've gone this long without reading - sheesh. I hope you reach your goals and your friend gets better.
